The Derbyshire Veterans Group HQ also aims to support Veterans who may have an alcohol, drugs, mental health and/or welfare issues with in-house trained staff
or the 'STAND TO' project together with the Derbyshire Recovery Partnership (DRP).
We focus on an individuals needs and circumstances as the 'one size fits all' approach is seldom the answer to a persons needs.
We also have weekly model making as this has been proven to have numerous theraputic benefits in aiding a person's WELLBEING and RECOVERY. This can
include lifting mood and lowering anxiety levels, alongside the promotion of relaxation, a relief from stress and improving concentration. It also provides a sense of
continued achievement and confidence building.
The group features support groups such as, SMART (Self Management & Recovery Training), Relapse Awareness with a large emphasis on Peer support, "been there, done that", which has been shown to be critical for veterans in many studies.
The group members are encouraged to undergo further training and education in their recovery with many members becoming SMART facilitators, First Aiders and being IIntuitive Thinking Skills trained. A number of our members have gone on to further residential college courses in CBT for PTSD, Peer mentoring and Substance misuse.
This allows us to succesfully facilitate individuals recovery and support their ongoing development to a more fulfilling lifestyle.
